Anyone else feel scammed by vets who say they know reptiles?

Has anyone had a vet who says they treat reptiles but clearly doesn’t know much about them? I went to one who claimed to be an expert, and they only gave me super basic advice. It didn’t help at all, and I feel like I wasted £60 for nothing. Is this common? Feeling really upset about it.

Yeah, I think a lot of people in different fields—like doctors, mechanics, and even lawyers—can sometimes be dishonest. For reptiles, humidity is so important. If they don’t get enough, they can’t shed properly, and it can lead to something like a fungal infection.

Kind of like salmonella but for their skin, if that makes sense.

I made the same mistake once, and it ended tragically for my pet. Now I only go to vets who specifically treat exotic animals. Surprisingly, they don’t charge more, and they actually know what they’re doing. It’s worth looking for someone better.
