Just curious… does anyone know if it’s possible to rent a baby monkey or lemur in Maryland? Looking for some advice.
Maryland actually has a ban on owning primates, so it’s illegal to have one out in public. Only places like sanctuaries, zoos, or breeding facilities can legally have them.
What’s the reason for wanting to rent one? If it’s for educational or outreach purposes, you could try petting zoos or performers who might have one. Maybe even a private owner could work with you, depending on the purpose. It might also be worth checking with any breeders nearby to see if they can point you in the right direction.
There’s a guy near me who has hundreds of lemurs – one of the largest collections privately owned! But he keeps a low profile, so you’d never know unless you asked around. Sometimes it takes a bit of digging to find options close by.
What do you need to rent a monkey for? Just curious!
