Hey, I’m living in the UK and I’m not sure if I can own a pet marmot. Does anyone know if it’s allowed here or if there are any special requirements for it? Would love to have one as a pet, just need some guidance!
You should check the local laws to see if you need any special permits for owning one. I’m in the US, so I’m not sure about how it works in the UK. I really hope you’re able to get yourself a marmot!
Try checking with exotic pet dealers in Ohio. I know Ohio is a bit more relaxed about these things. In Russia, they even make traditional winter hats out of marmot and mink furs. Since marmots are kind of like mountain woodchucks, the regulations probably won’t be too strict.
Just a heads-up, you might want to be aware that marmots can carry diseases like the bubonic plague, so be sure to do some research and take proper precautions!
