Hey everyone, I’m a high school student looking for an exotic pet that won’t break the bank. Since I play hockey in the evenings and sometimes travel for tournaments, I need something small, maybe pocket-sized or slightly bigger. Birds are a no-go because my girlfriend has a phobia of them, so I’ll have to steer clear of anything with feathers. Lastly, I want a pet that’s easy to take care of. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

How about a hamster? They’re affordable, small, and easy to take care of. Plus, they can stay in their cage when you’re busy, and they don’t mind being left alone for short periods.
I’d recommend a gecko! They’re low maintenance, and if you go with a species like a leopard gecko, they’re pretty chill. You can even take them with you sometimes if you’re careful!

What about a tarantula or a jumping spider? Both are small, easy to care for, and don’t need a lot of attention. They’re also pretty unique pets if you’re looking for something different.
If you want something you can carry around, maybe a small snake like a corn snake or a ball python? They’re relatively easy to care for, and some people even let them hang out in their pockets!
